The registered CAVE surveyed to over 300 ft deep, was used as a prison during the Civil War. From atop Cave Hill you can see the Blue Ridge Mountains to the East and the Alleghenies to the West. Great spot to enjoy your “sundowner” at the picnic benches.

Custom-built in 2000, its roof line Swiss Chalet style, this cozy, full of light home, features two living rooms, both with gas fire-places, is furnished in antiques and decorated with Internationally award winning Nature Photography. A Piano, eclectic library, music, movies and board games for your entertainment. Overhead fans and central air. Cable TV in Log Lounge and Master bedroom.

Three bedrooms: Master (Queen) Brass (Queen) and Twin Room (2 singles) each have private baths (Master bath single Jacussi),,,,,,,,,, We furnish all linen, towels, hairdryers and bathroom necessities Feather downs for nippy nights, overhead fans/cross ventilation OR central air for summer comfort. Log Loft has Queen Air Mattress and futons 11th and 12th younger generation. 2 single beds on second floor sitting area between Twin and Brass bedrooms. In Log Section 30 ft dining/kitchen, seats 12 comfortably, electric stove, microwave, dishwasher, fully equipped , coffee maker, pots/pans, dishes, glasses, flatware, including most seasoning/spices.

Large deck, partially covered for rain shelter, comfortable furniture, BBQ gas grill to enhance outdoor Dinners with candlelight under starry night-sky.

Shenandoah River House Attractions

During the CIVIL WAR the fertile Shenandoah Valley served as the bread-basket for Washington, D.C.

Only 100 miles West of DC and with today’s stronger “horsepower” and beautiful country side, rolling Blue Ridge mountains and Shenandoah River’s North + South Forks, the “VALLEY” has become a world-renown vacation spot on the East Coast.

The River House has 600 + feet of North Fork exposure, is 40 ft deep at this part. Bring your Kayak or canoe and do not forget the fishing rod. One guest caught an almost 4 ft bass!

Close by attractions include Bryce and Massanutten Ski Resorts, National Park, Skyline Drive, Luray and other Caverns, New Market Civil-War Museum and re-Enactments, seasonal concerts, Theatre in Little Washington, Middletown and Black Friars Shakespeare Theatre in Staunton. Ca. 1 hr to Monticello, close by Covered Bridge, horseback riding, canoe rentals, local museums, farmers markets, country auctions, ballooning, children’s play grounds and guide book featuring Valley attractions on premises.
